DESCRIPTION
A manic dark comedy that tells the story of six hard-edged and desperate women at the turn-of-the-century who will stop at nothing to befriend, con, swindle, or kill a seventh woman—the mythological figure known as The Pedestrian Bill Souse. Nothing is quite what it appears on the surface as genders get bent, identities turned inside-out, con after con falls apart, the gloves come off, and Bill Souse’s multiple layers get peeled away.

  BACKGROUND
"Confidence, Women!" was created as part of an ACME Acting Lab “Theater Lab.” The actresses and their playwright/director began meeting in September 2006 to create characters and develop a story. A first draft was completed in December 2006. Rehearsals began in January and the script was revised up to the point of opening and, in some cases, during the run of the show. Although the text was written by the playwright, much of the ideas, dialogue and story arcs came from each of the actresses.
